Family Favorite Homemade Pretzels

Ingredients
- 1 1⁄4 cups warm water (105-110 F)
- 1 1⁄4 tablespoons yeast
- 3 3⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3⁄4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
For the Bath
- 2 cups warm water
- 1⁄4 cup baking soda
Directions
- Dissolve the yeast in the warm water in th measuring cup. Let it sit 15 minutes.
- Mix flour, sugar, and salt in large mixing bowl. Add yeast water and olive oil. Mix with spoon until you have to go in with hands.
- Form into ball and knead for about 5 minuts on lightly floured surface. Dough will feel smooth when ready.
- Place into a large bowl lightly oiled with olive oil, cover and store in warm place for about an hour or so. Dough should almost double in size.
- Make a bath for the pretzels by combining the water and baking soda and mix well.
- Preheat oven to 425F.
- Remove dough and cut into 8 pieces.
- roll each portion onto non-floured surface. Roll it out to 3 feet or so. Make into the shape of a pretzel by bring each end looped over each other and pinch together at the bottom of the pretzel.
- Grab the pinched ends and dip into bath and put onto paper towel and blot excessive water.
- Sit onto a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Salt with pretzel salt if needed.
- Bake 5 minutes in the oven then turn the pan around and bake another 5 minutes. Remove when lightly golden brown.
- Remove from pan and place on cooling rack. Brush with butter and serve immediately.
