Ingredients
Cake
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup Crisco shortening
- 5 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup milk
Frosting
- 1 1⁄2 cups Crisco shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 cup coffee (cold)
- 1⁄2 teaspoon instant coffee granules
Directions
- Cake:.
- Grease Tube Pan.
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Cream Together 2 Cups of Sugar and 1 Cup of Shortening. Add 5 Eggs, one at the time, while mixing.
- Sift together 2 1/2 Cups flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the sugar, shortening and egg mixture - alternating with 1 cup of milk while mixing.
- Bake for 1 Hour and 15 minutes. Cool and remove from pan.
- Frosting:.
- Beat all ingredients on high speed until consistency of whipped cream. Frost cake and refrigerate.
- Keep refrigerated until ready for serving.
