  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 9" x 13" pan.
  2. Peel, core, and chop apples. Combine in a large bowl with the sugar.
  3. Sift flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon together in a separate bowl.
  4. Combine eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately mix dry and liquid ingredients into apple mixture.
  6. Stir in chopped nuts, if using.
  7. Spread into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes.
