Easy Chicken Cacciatore (Oamc)

An easy chicken pasta sauce for the crockpot. Extras can be frozen for later use. Portabella mushrooms make a wonderful choice for mushrooms but regular white mushrooms are fine. Boneless chicken thighs can be used for the breasts if you prefer. Show more

Serves: 8-12

Ingredients

  • 1  large onion, chopped
  • 1  tablespoon butter
  • 2  lbs chicken breasts, boneless
  • 2 (28 ounce) jars  spaghetti sauce
  • 1 -2  tablespoon  italian seasoning (optional)
  • 8  ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced

Directions

  1. Saute onion in butter until soft.
  2. Place chicken in crockpot (chicken can be added frozen).
  3. Top with onions and italian seasoning.
  4. Pour spaghetti sauce over top.
  5. Cover, cook on low 7-8 hours.
  6. Add mushrooms.
  7. Cook additional 1 hour.
  8. Remove chicken and cut into bite size pieces and return to sauce.
  9. Stir well.
  10. Serve over spaghetti.
