Dripping Springs Pecan Pie

Ingredients
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 unbaked pie shell (9-inch)
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup pecan halves
Directions
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the bottom of the pie shell. Combine the corn syrup, sugar and salt in a bowl and mix well. Stir in the eggs, butter and vanilla. Add the pecans and mix gently. Spoon into the prepared pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake for 45 minutes longer or until set.
