Desperate Braised Pork Chops -- Gringo Soul

Yields: 4-6 pork chops
Ingredients
- 4 -6 pork chops, both bone-in and boneless are fine
- 1⁄2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon season salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1⁄4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 medium onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1⁄2 cup beer or 1⁄2 cup wine or 1⁄2 cup apple juice or 1⁄2 cup water, I normally use beer
Directions
- Season Pork Chops to taste. The measurements are guidelines.
- Heat heavy skillet to medium with 2 T of oil.
- Saute onions and garlic until translucent about 5 minute Set aside.
- In same skillet brown pork chops over med/high heat. for about 3 minute each side.
- Transfer onion and garlic back to pan.
- Add liquid. Bring to boil.
- Cover pan and turn down heat to lowest setting.
- Cook for 45 min to hour until fork tender.
- Start checking pan after 30 min adding liquid if necessary.
- When pork chops are tender, remove from pan.
- Reduce liquid over medium heat if necessary to make gravy.
- Put pork chops back in gravy.
- Serve over rice.
