Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients
- 1 2⁄3 cups flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1⁄3 cup shortening
- 1 1⁄3 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup mashed pumpkin
- 1⁄3 cup water
- 1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts or 1⁄2 cup pecans
Directions
- Grease regular loaf pan.
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla.
- Add eggs one at a time.
- Beat thoroughly after each addition.
- Stir in pumpkin.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with the water, beating until mixture is smooth.
- DO NOT OVERBEAT.
- Fold in nuts.
- Pour into loaf pan and bake 350F for 45-55 mins or until done.
- Turn bread onto wire rack to cool, before storing in an airtight container.
- Slice and serve with butter if desired.
