Decadent White Chocolate Brownies W/Almond

I LOVE white chocolate! These are very rich and one of my favorites!

Ingredients

  • 6 (1 1/4ounce)  bars  white chocolate with almonds, divided
  • 14 cup butter
  • 2  eggs
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 1  cup flour
  • 14 teaspoon baking powder
  • 18 teaspoon salt
  • 1  teaspoon vanilla
  • 14 teaspoon  almond extract
  • 1 (1 ounce)  semi-sweet chocolate baking square
  • 1  teaspoon shortening

Directions

  1. In top of double-boiler, combine 4 candy bars and butter, bring water in pan below to a boil, reduce heat to low, and cook til candy melts, stirring, set aside to cool.
  2. Beat eggs on medium til thick and lemon-colored.
  3. Gradually add sugar, beating well.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to egg mixture, mixing well.
  5. Stir in cooled candy mixture and flavorings.
  6. Coarsely chop remaining candy bars, and stir into batter.
  7. Pour batter into a greased 8" square baking pan.
  8. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
  9. Cool on wire rack.
  10. Combine semi-sweet chocolate and shortening in small saucepan.
  11. Cook over low heat, stirring, til chocolate melts.
  12. Drizzle over brownies.
  13. Chill until chocolate hardens.
  14. Cut into 16 squares.
