Date Nut Bread

Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2⁄3 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons melted butter
- 1 2⁄3 cups flour
Directions
- Combine the dates, boiling water, and soda boil in saucepan for 1 minute.
- Add rest of ingredients and pour into a lightly sprayed loaf pan.
- The recipe says to bake in a slow oven for about an hour. I normally bake at 325 degrees for about an hour.
