Date Flake Quick Bread

Ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup dates, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup nuts, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1⁄4 cups milk
- 1⁄2 cup molasses
- 4 tablespoons melted shortening
- 1 cup slightly crushed corn flakes
Directions
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Stir in dates and nuts. Mix egg, milk, molasses and slightly cooled shortening. Add to dry ingredients. Stir only enouhg to dampen flour. Fold in flakes, being careful not to overmix. Pour into wellpgreased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan, and bake one hour at 350F-375°F.
