Date and Nut Bread

I have not tried this recipe. I got this recipe from The Beverly Lewis Amish Heritage Cookbook. This says it is very nice sliced thin and served with Velveeta cheese. Show more

  1. Pour boiling water over dates. Add soda and let mixture cool.
  2. In separate bowl, beat egg; add sugar and mix well. Stir in date mixture and remaining ingredients; mix well.
  3. Bake in loaf pan, greased or lined with wax paper, for 1 hour or more at 350 degrees.
  4. Ice with plain frosting if desired.
