Dan's Favorite Baked Beans

This is a very old recipe given to me by my mother-in-law. My husband loves these beans and requests them often. If you have an occasion coming up, give them a try! You won't be disappointed! Show more

Serves: 6-8

Ingredients

  • 2 (28 ounce) cans  pork and beans, drained plus
  • 1 (14 ounce) can  pork and beans, drained (70 ounces total)
  • 1  cup brown sugar
  • 1  medium onion, chopped finely, sauteed in bacon fat
  • 1  green pepper, chopped finely, sauteed in bacon fat
  • 1  cup  Dark Karo syrup
  • 14 cup prepared mustard
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3  tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 (4 1/4ounce) can  deviled ham (optional)
  •  pepper
  • 8  slices bacon

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except bacon.
  2. Lay bacon across the top.
  3. Bake at 325°F for 2 hours.
