Cucumber Slices

Ingredients
- 2 gallons sliced cucumbers
- 4 sliced bell peppers
- 4 sliced onions
- 3⁄4 cup salt
Syrup
- 5 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 tablespoon turmeric
- 1⁄2 teaspoon clove
- 1⁄2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1⁄8 cup mustard seeds
- 1 quart vinegar
- 10 cups water
Directions
- Cover the vegetables with water and ice chips and weigh them down, with a plate on top, so everything is under water for 3 hours. Drain.
- Mix the last 7 ingredients for the syrup. Heat the syrup.
- Add the heated syrup to the drained vegetables.
- Pour into hot sterilized jars. Seal.
- Water bath for 30 minutes.
