Crumb Topped Tomatoes

Tangy side dish. If you're a tomato fan--You'll love these.

Yields: 12 tomato halves

Ingredients

  • 6  large tomatoes
  •  salt and pepper
  • TOPPING

  • 3  tablespoons butter
  • 1  tablespoon  finely chopped onion
  • 12 cup  dry breadcrumbs
  • 1  tablespoon parsley
  • 1  pinch thyme

Directions

  1. Cut tomatoes in half and arrange in shallow pan.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Broil, cut side up 6 inches from heat for 5 minutes.
  4. In small skillet, cook onion in butter, until soft.
  5. Stir in rest of ing.
  6. Spoon onto tomatoes.
  7. Broil about 3 minutes longer -- until lightly browned.
