Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread or 1 loaf sourdough bread
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄8 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper (fine)
- 2 garlic cloves (fresh crushed)
Directions
- Preheat oven to broil.
- Cut bread horizontally into two long equal pieces.
- Place room temperature butter and mayonnaise in a medium bowl.
- Using the palms of your hands like a mortar and pestle, crush the dried herbs (parsley, oregano and basil) as you add them to the bowl.
- Add salt, fresh ground pepper and crushed garlic to the bowl.
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
- Spread the mixture evenly across the two loaf pieces.
- Place bread under broil for 5 minutes, or until lightly toasted.
- Cut into serving size pieces and enjoy.
