Crock Pot Chile Verde

A favorite for over 30 years in my house! I don't remember where I got the original, but I have altered it for the crock pot. For stove top, simply increase water to 2 cups. Show more

  1. Cut pork in 1/2 inch cubes.
  2. Dredge pork in flour.
  3. Heat shortening in fry pan, brown pork well.
  4. Add onion and garlic, cook until soft.
  5. Put pork mixture, tomatoes, chiles, oregano, salt and water in crock pot.
  6. Cook on high for 4-6 hours, or until pork will break apart with a fork.
  7. Serve in bowls with grated cheddar or Jack cheese on top, or wrap 1/2 Cup with cheese and refried beans in a 10" flour tortilla.
