Creative Pan Cookies - "desert Safe"

This recipe came from Nestle's Website. My husband is in Iraq and I have been looking for some home baked goodies I can send him. These cookies are what they consider to be "desert safe". They have been tested and meets Middle East Guidlines, as well as US Postal Service mailing regulations. Show more

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in small mixer bowl. Beat sugar and shortening in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in eggs. Gradually add flour mixture and water. Stir in morsels, oats and apples. Spread batter into ungreased 15x10 in jelly-roll pan.
  3. bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
