Cough Syrup

This amazingly tastes quite pleasant for a home remedy. Very close to a recipe my Granmother used. I am not sure but I think she also added garlic. I never knew how it was made, but found this in the paper. It works very well for coughs and colds. With honey and onions having an antibacterial properties and in addition the onions contain thiosulfinate "a sulphur" containing a compound that reduces bronchial constriction. Thus helping reduce any mucas. I have not listed quantity, as it depends on how much honey is used. Show more

Directions

  1. Peel and roughly chop the red onion, place in a small bowl and cover with honey. Place the bowl in a warm room for 6-8 hours.
  2. Strain the onion from the syrup then use as suggested.
  3. Adults. 1 tablespoon every 2 hours.
  4. Children. 1 teaspoon every 2-4 hours.
