Coffee Squares

This cake is not a typical "Coffee Cake" with cinnamon. It is a chocolate chip cake with real coffee. My family gobbles these squares up.

• Yields: 24 squares

Ingredients

• 1⁄2 cup margarine or 1⁄2 cup butter
• 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
• 1  egg
• 1 1⁄2 cups flour
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1  teaspoon vanilla
• 1⁄2 cup  warm coffee
• 1⁄2 cup chocolate chips

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cream the margarine or butter with the sugar.
3. Add the egg and mix.
4. Then blend in the rest of the ingredients except the chips.
5. Spread into a greased 9x13" baking pan.
6. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
7. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
8. Cool and then cut into squares.
