Classic French Onion Soup

Easy to make classic French Onion soup. Sure to be a family favorite.

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan on med-low, add onions. Cover and cook for 10 mins or till onions are tender but not brown (stir occasionally).
  2. Stir in flour. Then while stirring then add broth, wine, Worcestershire, pepper and Bay leaf while stirring. Bring to a boil then cover and reduce to a simmer for 30 mins - stirring occasionally. Salt to taste just before serving.
  3. To serve: Ladle soup into bowls, top with toast and cheese. Broil on high til cheese melts.
