Cinnamon Candied Apples

Remember those red hot candies from your childhood? This recipe will take you back.....

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 2  cups water
  • 1  cup sugar
  • 1  cup  red-hot candies
  • 6  apples, peeled, cored and halved (tart)
  •  of fresh mint
  •  whipped cream (optional)

Directions

  1. Bring water, sugar and candies to boil over medium heat in a large saucepan. Stir constantly until dissolved.
  2. Reduce heat and carefully add the apples. Cook (uncovered) until apples are tender, about 8 minutes.
  3. Transfer apples to a serving dish and pour syrup on apples.
  4. Serve either warm or chilled. Garnish with mint or whipped cream if you like.
