Homemade Chokecherry Syrup

Good on pancakes or ice cream. Keeps well

Yields: 4 pints

Ingredients

  • 4  quarts  chokecherries
  • 4  quarts water
  • 6  cups sugar, as below
  • 1 (85 g) package  certo  pectin

Directions

  1. Boil water and berries for 1/2 hour.
  2. Strain.
  3. For every 4 cups of syrup add 6 cups of sugar.
  4. Bring to a rolling boil.
  5. Add 1 package of Certo.
  6. Boil 1 minute more.
