Chocolate Peanut Butter Taffy

Another recipe from my ma's collection. We never tried this one though 8)

Yields: 1 batch

Ingredients

  • 14 cup  smooth peanut butter
  • 1  ounce  unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 13 cup water
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 12 cup corn syrup
  • 1  cup maple syrup
  • 34 cup sugar

Directions

  1. Cook together on low heat: syrups, sugar, salt, and water.
  2. Stir continuously until dissolved.
  3. Cook to 288°F on thermometer or until soft-crack stage.
  4. Add in melted chocolate.
  5. Pour into greased pan.
  6. When cool enough to pull, spread with peanut butter; fold over and pull enough to mix peanut butter well with candy.
  7. Cut into pieces.
