Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies

  1. Sift flour; measure, and sift again with soda, salt, and cocoa. Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually and blending thoroughly. Add eggs and beat. Add flour mixture and milk alternately, beating after each addition. Add chopped nuts and vanilla; mix. Drop by level tespoonfuls about 2" apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350* for 8 minutes. Top with marshmallow halves, cut side down. Return to oven and bake 2 minutes until marshmallow softens. Cool. Frost with cocoa frosting (Mix powdered sugar, cocoa, salt, butter, cream and vanilla. Blend until smooth.) and top each cookie with a pecan half.
