Chocolate Ice Cream

A nice custard ice cream for summer!

Yields: 1 1/2 quarts

Ingredients

  • 1 14 cups sugar
  • 1  tablespoon flour
  • 1  dash salt
  • 2  eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2  cups milk
  • 2  semi-sweet chocolate baking squares
  • 2  cups  whipping cream
  • 1  tablespoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix sugar, flour and salt together.
  2. Add eggs to mixture& stir.
  3. Heat the milk and melt the chocolate in it.
  4. Combine the mixtures and cook over med.
  5. Low heat using heavy-bottomed pan until slightly thickened.
  6. Cool and add the cream and vanilla.
  7. Strain and freeze using manufacturer's instructions.
