  1. Preheat oven to 350 degees.
  2. Cream together butter, shortening, and sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  4. Mix dry ingredients together; stir into butter mixture.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts; chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto baking sheets.
  7. Bake 8-10 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before removing from pan to rack , cool.
