Chocolate Chess Pie

This recipe is from The Angus Barn, a favorite steak house in Raleigh, NC. My family had relocated from the midwest and had never tasted a "chess pie" before. It is fantastic and very easy! Show more

Serves: 6-8

Yields: 1 pie

Ingredients

  • 1  unbaked pie shell
  • 12 cup butter
  • 2  semi-sweet chocolate baking squares
  • 1  cup sugar
  • 2  eggs, beaten
  • 1  teaspoon vanilla
  • 1  dash salt

Directions

  1. Melt butter and chocolate.
  2. Mix with other ingredients which have been blended together and pour into pie shell.
  3. Bake for 35 minutes (no longer than that!) at 350 degrees. Top with whipped cream to serve.
