Chocolate Caramel Layer Brownies

Ingredients

  • 18 14 ounces  chocolate cake mix
  • 12 cup margarine or 12 cup butter, melted
  • 1  cup evaporated milk
  • 35  caramels, unwrapped
  • 12  ounces  chocolate  candies, mini m&m's

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease 13x9 inch pan.
  3. Combine dry cake mix, melted margarine, and 2/3 cup evaporated milk in large bowl and mix well.
  4. Spread half of batter (about 2 cups) in greased pan.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, heat caramels with remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk over low heat in small saucepan until melted, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove pan from oven, sprinkle with 1 cup of candy.
  8. Drizzle with caramel mixture.
  9. Drop remaining batter by heaping spoonfuls over caramel mixture.
  10. Sprinkle with remaining 2/3 cup of candy.
  11. Return to oven and bake for additional 20 - 24 minutes or until center is set.
  12. Cool 1 hour or until completely cooled.
