Chocolate Cake With Peanut Butter Icing

A recipe passed down from generation to generation in my boyfriend's family. This recipe was given to me by his mother. A wonderful treat for everyone of all ages! For best results, you should make the icing homeade, but it's just as delicious with Pillsbury's icing. Show more

Serves: 12

Yields: 1 cake

Ingredients

  • 1 (18 ounce) box  chocolate cake mix (Duncan Hines preferred)
  • 3  eggs (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 13 cup  oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1 13 cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)
  • 1 (15 ounce) jar  vanilla frosting (Pillsbury's preferred)
  • 2  tablespoons peanut butter
  • 13 cup  whole milk

Directions

  1. Follow directions on the back of the cake mix box.
  2. Bake the cake as directed.
  3. When cake is finished, let cool until room-temperature.
  4. Stir in 2 Tbsp peanut butter into the jar of vanilla icing.
  5. Add 1/3 cup of milk to thin it out a little.
  6. Stir until mixed well.
  7. Ice the cake with the peanut butter icing.
  8. Enjoy!
