Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup margarine, softened
- 2 (1 lb) boxes powdered sugar
- 4 ounces bar baking chocolate, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄4 cup shortening
- 3 eggs
- 2 1⁄4 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Mix cream cheese, margarine, powdered sugar, baking chocolate and vanilla in a bowl.
- Take out 3 cups for icing and set aside; to the rest add the remaining ingredients.
- Pour batter into 3 floured 9" cake pans. Bake at 350 F for 30 to 35 minutes. When layers are cooled spread with reserved icing, stacking each layer as it's iced.
