Ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 1⁄4 cups cake flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup buttermilk
- 1⁄2 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Directions
- Mix dry ingredients.
- Add softened butter and butter-milk; beat for one minute.
- Add eggs and vanilla.
- Stir soda and cocoa into boiling water, mix, and then beat into cake mixture.
- Bake in greased and floured layer pan or 9x13 inch cake pan at 350°F for 30-35 minutes or until done.
