Chinese Pepper Steak

This came from a cookbook put together by our school several years ago. I usually cut the recipe in half and find it is plenty for the three of us. Very tasty! Show more

  1. Cut round steak into thin strips.
  2. In skillet, brown steak in shortening; pour off fat.
  3. Sprinkle with pepper.
  4. Add soup, water, tomatoes, soy sauce and green peppers.
  5. Cover and cook over low heat approximately 45 minutes or until meat is tender.
  6. Stir now and then.
  7. Mix cornstarch and 4 tablespoons of water until smooth; gradually stir into sauce.
  8. Cook and stir until thickened.
  9. Serve over rice.
