Chinese Chew

Ingredients
- 5 tablespoons flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 lb dates, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 3⁄4 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- confectioners' sugar, to taste
Directions
- Sift flour, baking powder, and salt twice.
- Add oher ingredients and mix well together.
- Bake in a shallow greased tin for 30 minutes at 375 deg F.
- When cooked, sprinkle well with icing sugar.
- Cut into fingers when cool.
