Chili With Potatoes

We lovingly refer to this as "German Chili" in our family. My grandmother started putting potatoes in her chili and my father won't eat it any other way. People think it sounds crazy until they have a bite! Give it a try!

Ingredients

• 2  lbs hamburger
• 1  large onion, chopped
• 2 (15 ounce) cans tomatoes, crushed
• 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
• 1 (29 ounce) can dark red kidney beans
• 1 (29 ounce) can  light kidney beans
• 1  stalk celery, chopped
• 2  tablespoons chili powder
• 2  teaspoons cumin
• 1 (3 ounce) can  minced green chilies
• 2  cups water
• 2  large potatoes, peeled and diced

Directions

1. Brown hamburger and onions. Salt and pepper to taste. Put into large stew pot.
2. Add in all remaining ingredients and stir well. Cook over medium heat about an hour or until potatoes are tender. Add water occansionally if needed.
