Chicken and Dressing Casserole

Ingredients

  • 3  cups  crumbled  cornbread
  • 18 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1  cup  minced onion
  • 12 cup  melted butter
  • 2 12 cups  cooked chicken, cut in pieces
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 1  cup  chopped celery
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 1  cup milk
  • 1  tablespoon  melted butter
  • 1  tablespoon flour, rounded
  • 2  cups chicken broth
  • 1  egg, well beaten

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Toss together in a bowl the corn bread,
  3. celery, 1/2 t salt, onion, pepper, and 1/2 c melted butter.
  4. Spread in buttered casserole dish and arrange chicken
  5. evenly over the top.
  6. In a skillet, heat the tablespoon melted butter,
  7. flour and salt.
  8. Blend well and stir in broth.
  9. Stir until smooth.
  10. While heating this, combine egg and milk; add to sauce.
  11. Cook until sauce thickens slightly and pour on
  12. top of chicken.
  13. Bake approx 45 minute.
