Chef-Boy-I-Be-Illinois' Maple Stewed Apples

Stewed apples are a marvelous side dish for pork, or a wonderful dessert served with some low fat vanilla yogurt. Your kitchen will smell like you are baking a pie, but without the crust. Use any type apple your prefer. I had red delicious on hand, so that's what got used. And use real maple syrup. Directions

  1. Bring apples, syrup, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon to a simmer and simmer covered until apples are tender 10-15 minutes.
  2. Combine cornstarch and apple juice and add to stewed apples to thicken the sauce.
  3. Serve warm.
