- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees (Gas Mark 5).
- Peel and slice the onions.
- Slice the potatoes.
- Skin and slice the tomatoes.
- Place all in layers in a greased baking dish, seasoning and scattering herbs between layers.
- Dot with margarine.
- Cover and cook in oven for 50-60 minutes, until tender.
- Make up the cheese sauce.
- Remove the dish from oven and pour over the sauce, return to the oven for a further 15 minutes until golden.
