These grits are a great side or add some cooked shrimp for shrimp & grits!

  1. Place the buttermilk, garlic powder, and salt into a medium pot over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
  2. Whisk in grits, avoiding lumps, cover and reduce heat to low.
  3. Cook for 20 minutes.
  4. In the last minute, add the pepper, butter, and cheese and whisk until melted and combined.
