Cheese Scones With Gomashio

I came up with this recipe myself looking for a whole grain cheese scone recipe with some jazz. You can vary this recipe easily by adding in e.g. sesame seeds, tahini, some herbs, garlic or other add-ins of your choice. Show more

Ready In: 25 mins

Yields: 4 scones

Ingredients

  • 1 14 cups  whole grain flour
  • 1 12 teaspoons baking powder
  • 30  g butter

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/425°F.
  2. In a bowl combine flour, gomashio and baking powder. Rub in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add liquid little by little until a soft, but not sticky dough forms.
  4. Pat out on a lightly floured surface and cut out scones of desired size ( I use a regular glass for cutting).
  5. Place on a papaer-lined baking sheet, top with grated cheese and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown and baked through.
  6. Enjoy! :).
