Cheese Casserole

If you love cheese, you will love this casserole! This recipe was passed down throughout my family, and my mom makes it every Thanksgiving and Christmas! It is so good that I go back for seconds of it every time, and even sometimes thirds! I thought since it was so delicious, I pass it on to the rest of the world! Enjoy! Show more

Serves: 10

Ingredients

  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 3  eggs, beaten separately (you will be using the egg whites later)
  • 2  cups milk
  • 10  slices  of white loaf  bread (make into bread crumbs with food processor)
  • 1  teaspoon dry mustard
  • 12 teaspoon  red pepper
  • 12 cup margarine (melted)
  • 1  lb  grated sharp cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Add cheese and other dry ingredients, (bread crumbs, salt,dry mustard, and red pepper) together in a large bowl. Toss well by hand. Add liquid ingredients:melted margarine, milk, and beaten egg YOLKS (not whites) to dry ingredients and mix well by hand. Pour in a 9x13 dish(glass works best for me). Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into casserole dish.(make sure you this step last). Refrigerate casserole overnight until ready to bake. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 min or until lightly browned on top.
