  1. Cream shortening and sugars together.
  2. Add eggs; beat until fluffy.
  3. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together; add to creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in oatmeal, coconut, and nuts.
  5. Carefully fold in rice puffs cereal.
  6. Shape into balls 1-1/2 inches in diameter.
  7. Cookies will flatten while baking.
  8. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake in moderate 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 12 minutes until lightly browned.
  10. Remove at once from baking sheet to a cooling rack.
  11. Don't store cookies until completely cool.
