Catherine Walter's Stuffed Cabbage

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chuck
- 1⁄2 cup cooked rice
- 1 egg
- 1⁄2 cup white raisins
- salt and pepper
- 1 cabbage
- 2 cups canned tomatoes
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- juice 1 lemon
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
Directions
- Combine chuck, rice, egg, 1/4 cup raisins, and salt and pepper.
- Soften cabbage leaves in boiling water. Make rolls with filling. Fasten with toothpicks.
- Shred remaining cabbage and line pan with it. Place rolls on top.
- Combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, lemon juice, onion, brown sugar, and remaining 1/4 cup raisins. Pour over rolls and simmer for about 2 hours.
