Carrot Cake With Brown Sugar Sauce

  1. Cream butter, shortening and eggs, beat till fluffy --
  2. Mix in apple and carrot.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mizture.
  4. Bake in a greased 13x9 pan -- at 350* for 30-45 minutes.until toothpick tests clean when inserted near the center --
  5. May be served warm or cold.
  6. to prepare BROWN SUGAR SAUCE:.
  7. Boil water in a seperate pan -- Mix sugar and cornstarch in another pan and add boiling water slowly, bring to a boil.
  8. Stirring constantly for 5 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and add vanilla.butter and nutmeg.
  10. Serve warm, ovr carrot cake.
