Caramelized Onion Dip

Serves: 6-8
Yields: 1 dip
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 medium onions, quartered and thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons sage leaves, chopped
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
- 1⁄2 cup buttermilk
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 green onion, sliced thinly
Directions
- Heat oil in heavy saucepan over medium-low heat. Add onions and sage.
- Cover and cook until onions are deep golden brown, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- In blender, blend sour cream, mayonnaise and buttermilk for 20 seconds (I'm sure a food processor would work just as well).
- Add cooled onions, salt and pepper; blend for 30 seconds.
- Serve in bowl with sliced green onions sprinkled on top. Serve with chips, crackers or veggies.
