Caramel Apple Pecan Pie

An absolute divine pie!!!

Yields: 1 pie

Ingredients

  • 2 (9 inch)  pie crusts (uncooked)
  • 4  tart apples, peeled and cored thinly sliced (such as Granny Smith's)
  • 12 cup pecans, chopped
  • 14 cup sugar
  • 14 lb  caramel, coarsely chopped
  • 2  tablespoons flour
  • 14 cup milk
  •  milk (for sprinkling on top)
  •  sugar (for sprinkling on top)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Line 9-inch pie plate with 1 pastry crust.
  3. In a large bowl, toss together apples, pecans, sugar, caramels, flour, and milk; spoon mixture into pie shell.
  4. Top with remaining pastry; fold the edge of the top pastry under the bottom pastry.
  5. Pinch together and flute the edge with a fork.
  6. Cut several slits in top so the steam can escape during baking; brush top with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
  7. Bake until crust is golden brown, about 45 minutes.
  8. Pie is best served slightly warm (with ice-cream of course!).
