Caramel Apple Nut Bread

Old recipe from Tilden Ne used applesauce. I really did not taste caramel, but it is a very good applesauce bread. It was very easy to put together.

• Yields: 1 loaf

Ingredients

• 2⁄3 cup brown sugar
• 1⁄3 cup shortening
• 2  eggs
• 2  cups flour
• 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1  teaspoon baking powder
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1  cup applesauce
• 1⁄2 cup walnuts, chopped

Directions

1. Cream brown sugar and shortening.
2. Add eggs.
3. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
4. Add applesauce.
5. Fold in chopped nuts.
6. Pour into a greased loaf pan.
7. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 60 minutes or until done.
