Calzones
Ready In: 55 mins
Serves: 5
Ingredients
- 2 -3 garlic cloves
- 3 small tomato sauce, cans
- 1 regular can tomato paste
- 2 loaves frozen bread dough
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 16 ounces mozzarella cheese
- pepperoni (optional)
- Crisco
Directions
- Thaw bread dough.
- Peel and shred garlic cloves and put them in a medium sauce pan with a lid. Add oil and turn to medium heat.
- When garlic is a golden brown, add sauce and paste. Stir well, reduce heat, cover, and let simmer while you work on the rest of this.
- Crisco up two large pizza pans. Spread the dough out on each of them.
- On half of each, add your cheese and pepperoni and anything else. Don't go overboard, as it can explode out when you slice it and be a hot cheesy mess.
- Fold the blank half over the toppings and twist the edges to keep everything inches.
- Preheat oven to 450. I do these one at a time to ensure proper cooking times on both.
- Put one in for six minutes, flip, then put it in for another 4-5 minutes. Do the same with the other calzone.
- Add spices to your sauce. Keep adding until it tastes awesome-- don't be afraid to taste-test!
- Slice calzones up like pizza sticks and dip them in sauce. Epic.
