Buttermilk Spice Crisps

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in egg and buttermilk.
  3. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and nutmeg; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  4. Shape into two 9-in. rolls; wrap each in plastic wrap.
  5. Refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.
  6. Unwrap and cut into 1/4-in. slices.
  7. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove to wire racks to cool.
