  1. preheat oven to 450*.
  2. heat oil in 8" cast iron skillet for 5 minutes.
  3. combine dry ingredients.
  4. stir together buttermilk and egg.
  5. add buttermilk mixture and hot oil from skillet to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
  6. pour into hot skillet.
  7. bake 20 minutes.
