Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, frozen
- 1 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees.
- Sift dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
- Cut butter and shortening into small pieces and cut into dry mixture until it resembles course meal.
- Add buttermilk and mix until just combined.
- Turn dough out onto a floured board. Gently pat the dough until it is about 1/2" thick. Fold dough 5 times. Gently press or roll dough down to 1" thick.
- Using a round cutter, cut into rounds and place on a sheet pan 1" apart.
- Bake for 18 minutes until golden brown on top and bottom.
